Funny Lane Kiffen Song

This is funny.

Runaway Lane

Here is the problem I see with Kiffen. I actually don't really fault him for taking the USC job...this is a once in a lifetime opportunity dream job for him in a unique place that means a lot to him...the circumstances were very unique that this job would open up so soon as no one expected Pete Carroll to be gone. That being said, he didn't have to be a pompous jerk to Tennessee! He could have been really gracious to Tennessee but instead you could tell he was just giving them lip service. Then his opening presser at USC took the cake....he talked about his experience at Tennessee being positive because of the "connections" he established that would allow him to be in better position for the USC job...then when asked why he thought Tenn fans were so upset he remarks they are upset because they saw all the great things he did and naturally are upset at losing such a great coach! It all goes back to him and how great he is and what Tennessee could do for him! <Didn't we used to have an "asshat" emoticon? Someone please insert it here!> Is this guy just naive or actually the pompous a$$ he so well portays? I think it is a unique combination of both! Then, to lie about not knowing his staff was contacting Tenn's recruits before the guy was even gone...slimeball stuff.

I was actually not surprised to hear Norm Chow is not coming. Chow seems way too smart and wise for these antics. Also, anybody else think this as well...if Monte wasn't Lane's dad would Lane be anywhere near the jobs he has had? Monte gives him credibility that he would not have otherwise. Think about it...if two of the biggest clowns in football (Lane and Orgeron) were coming to take over your program, would you be excited? I think the craziness of this is toned down with the presence of Monte as the father figure who won't let it get too far. Without Monte, Lane and Orgeron would be a joke.

It's like Chow is choosing between working in the Nixon administration, or working for George W. Bush. I guess tricky Rick won out.
