A Husker poster over on Tigerboard posted this today in regards to the game. I thought it was very clever, especially if you know all of the excuses some Missouri fans used last year to explain why they lost to us. Enjoy.
Where to begin . . .
1) The weather. The weather was about 70 degrees and sunny with a light breeze. Clearly the weather favored a grind it out running team like Nebraska more than a spread passing team like Missouri. The game would have ended far differently if the weather had been better.
2) Dirty/Illegal hit to Nebraska's quarterback. Missouri's player hit Nebraska's star quarterback with an intent to injure him. Because of this illegal and dirty hit to Martinez, he never returned to the game. Nebraska was forced to play with a backup quarterback for the entire second half due to the starter being hobbled with a leg injury. The game would have ended far differently if Nebraska's starting quarterback had been healthy.
3) Missouri dominated for 3 quarters. Honestly, I'm surprised Nebraska was even in this one. Missouri was obviously the more talented and better coached team. The weather and fluke plays are the only thing that can explain the Nebraska victory.
4) I was a fool to suggest that Nebraska's running backs were better than Missouri's. Tigrfan023, I owe you an apology. You are absolutely correct that Missouri's running backs are superior to Nebraska's. The results showed up on the field.
5) Nebraska's defense is worthless without Suh and a monsoon. This one was obvious. The Nebraska defensive line got ZERO pressure on Gabbert and the speed and athleticism of the Missouri receivers could not be matched by Nebraska's awful secondary. Missouri's defense is the best in the Big 12 . . . and probably the country.
6) Oklahoma is a far better team than Nebraska.
7) Missouri's offense is at least the equal of Oklahoma State . . . and it's probably better.
8) The only way to win a game is with a 5 star quarterback. Has Nebraska even named a starting quarterback yet?
9) Pelini still can't recruit.
10) Inexplicably, they still haven't given Anthony Pierson his 5th star. I will not stop calling Rivals and Scout until they do so.
