Where did you hear he did well? From Jamal himself?Where did you hear that he didn't do well? I read that he looked solid.
And any quarterback is going to take multiples years to get the offense down pat, that's nothing exclusive to Turner.
And how would you know anything about his presence in the huddle? Unless you've spent time in the huddle with him this year (which I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you have not) you can't make a judgement call about his leadership.
It has nothing to do with grasp of the plays, that is on another level from being able to understand reads, checks, zone concepts, blocking assignments, etc., Jamal's offense is close to the same as Cody Green's offense was in HS. Alot of 1-2 read patterns, that then allowed Jamal to use his athletic ability. At this point in his career, Jamal has never had to be a QB, because he is so much better as an athlete than everyone else that is has not mattered. And while that may work in HS, that will not work in college.
Lastly, it seems you took the 'taking guidance in the huddle' the wrong way. That isn't knocking leadership abilities, but moreso having the ability to know the play, be able to plainly tell your teammates in the huddle, and know each of your teammates assignments on each play more than you know your own.
But this goes back to something I've always said - believe what you want to when it comes to me.
If you have faith in Jamal as a true QB, more power to you. We will just agree to disagree and we will leave it at that.
