Getting ready

All-American
It is almost 5pm here in Iraq. I was hoping some of you could fill me in on what you are doing to prepare for the game tonight. Just remember that I am with you in spirit. This is my favorite time of year and some feedback will make it seem like HOME.

Going to the local watch site in Dallas/Ft.Worth area. They do a good job too b/c when the Huskers score, they play the fight song on the speakers, people shout "Go Huskers!", everyone's wearing red, they clap, they cheer, and we all high five and have some beers!!!

Well, I woke up today feeling really great. It's saturday, and it was a long week at the university. I feel really lucky and privledged to be able to enjoy all of this, so I appreciate all the sacrifices people make/have made to allow this rare oppertunity for such a high standard of living. I'm working on figuring out how to make this world a better place for everybody, so that quest is interesting and challenging as well, even if I'm only at one very early point, and just a kid in college.

As for the game,

well,

It won't be on TV around me, but I'll keep it on to try to catch some Replays or halftime info. Ill get some food ready for the game, and listen to it over the internet radio. I might even put on my Nebraska hat, which rests in a place of honor on my dorm wall. Generally, I try to eat and relax. It's a time to look forward to, which is always nice.

GBR

and

Stay safe.

The best part about my deployment was that I got to see every televised Husker game on AFN. If I were you, I'd head to the chow hall, get some n/a beer Put your Husker shirt on under your DCU's, Raise your Husker flag over your tent and Head to your MWR tent early to get your hands on the remote. Man, football season made my last 3 months there go by so quickly. Just make sure you get some sleep before the game so you wont be winded for mission tomorrow.

PS- Where are you at? (Remember OPSEC)

Where are you at , Honolulu? I know Oahu, but are you Army or AF? Your lingo doesn't hint Navy. I am guessing AF. Last time I was in Pearl was 02'. I always love pulling into Pearl. The ARIZONA memorial is emotionally indescribable. My grandfather was stationed in Pearl on the Big E from 38-40. He has some amazing pictures of Battleship Row...before the Japs got ahold of it.
