Thought I'd come out of hibernation to pass this along.
"Gib" Babcock was the Husker Equipment manager for a large part of the Devaney / Osborne era. He was also my uncle. He, along with my Grandpa were key factors in my early Husker fan-dom. He was a Husker to the core, and one of those solid, salt of the earth, greatest generation men.
He passed away on New Year's day, four hours after being told by his caregiver that the Husker's had won their bowl game against Georgia.
He touched a great many people. Its good to pause and think some times about all those folks in the background that make magical Big Red days happen.
