Four-Star Recruit
Here's a list of the last several head coaches to win a national championship. Lemme know if you see anything that ties them all together... I kinda hinted at it for you

2000- Bob Stoops (born in Ohio)

2001- Larry Coker (former Ohio State assistant)

2002- Jim Tressel (born in Ohio and former Ohio State assistant)

2003- Nick Saban (born in West Virginia, an Ohio border state and a former Ohio State assistant) and Pete Carroll (former Ohio State assistant)

2004- Carroll (see above)

2006- Urban Meyer (born in Ohio and former Ohio State assistant)

2007- Les Miles (born in Ohio)

2008- Stoops or Meyer (see above for either)

That being said... I will leave you with this:

Bo Pelini - Birthplace: Youngstown, OHIO, former Ohio State player, former Ohio State assistant, and he went to the same high school as Bob Stoops

Coincidence???? I think not! GBR!!!!!!!!!

Hmmm. If this was really a factor, then why don't I see this one in your list:

199X or 200x Frank Solich: Native of Cleveland, Ohio

Because Coach Solich never won a National Championship?
Right. The point being that not every coach with Ohio ties wins a national championship...
You cheeky little monkey, you pulled him in on that one. Talk about hook, line, and sinker. You were just waiting for him to answer before dropping the bomb.

Certainly says something for Ohio State tradition though. Of course at NU (under TO) our assitants stayed at Nebraska because we were winning national championships!

I'm not sure this is very accurate. TO was a coach for a really long time with the same assistants who were staying not because he was winning championships. TO and his assistants only stayed a few years past his first championship...

If Pickle can't figure out to win a championship you need at least some sort of defense, he will not be joining any of the above mentioned coaches from Ohio in winning a NC. The same can be said about Leach. Offense wins some games, but defense wins championships.
