Coach Burns used to coach at Clemson and we would love to get him and other coaches to tell us stories about their playing days. Coach Burns is from New Orleans, and played at Nebraska. He started playing for Bob Devaney (I believe) and ended his career with Tom Osbourne. He told us a story one day of how when he went to Nebraska, there was a rule that stated that freshman couldn't play (as seen in "We Are Marshall"), and because of this, he had seldom interactions with the head coach. He was a fullback and missed a block, and apparently he missed it pretty badly. He said the head coach turned to him and said "you do that again, and I'm sending your a$$ back to New Orleans." Coach Burns said that moment was his favorite moment as a freshman, because that's when he knew that the head coach knew who he was.
Anyway, I know the story isn't near as good coming from me, but I thought that it was pretty funny when he told it about how happy he was that he was known...
