Scouting Purdue
Purdue comes into Sunday’s contest with a 10-5 mark, but is winless in conference play at 0-2 following an 82-79 loss at Minnesota on Jan. 5. The Boilermakers look to rebound following a 16-18 campaign which snapped a streak of seven straight NCAA appearances.
With four returning starters, the Boilermakers opened the year with five straight wins, but are just 5-5 over the last 10 games. Purdue’s best win in a 73-70 win at West Virginia on Dec. 22, but Purdue has dropped games against No. 3 Ohio State and Minnesota. Purdue has mixed and matched its lineup, using eight different starting lineups and relying on a 10-player rotation for ninth-year coach Matt Painter.
Senior guard Terone Johnson leads the Boilermakers with 14.2 points per game, as Purdue averages 77.8 points per game. Ronnie Johnson is also in double figures at 11.2 points per game, while A.J. Hammons pulls down 7.1 rebounds per game and a Big Ten-leading 3.6 rebounds per game.
