Last October 2025 I started a health Journey. For the better. I had been instructed by my Primary Care Doctor back in September I needed to make some lifestyle changes. I was overweight, Pre-Diabetic, Had Sleep Apnea and High Blood Pressure. I've tried Slim Fast and Weight Watchers, but nothing seemed to help.
Finally, In October, I had an appointment with a Bariatric Specialist. I explained my weight history, diet habits etc... We made the decision that surgery is a good idea.
I had a starting weight of 426lbs, and was given information of a higher protein based diet. I started to gradually lose weight. When my wife and I met with the surgeon, he explained what weight he would like me to get to for surgery. I monitored and lost beyond his expectation. The doctor decided to go with Gastric Sleeve Surgery.
Surgery Day was April 27th 2026. 2 days in Hospital and then off work a total of 3 weeks for recovery. In my 2 week follow up, I lost 21 lbs in 2 weeks.
I'm up to solid foods with few restrictions other than little to no sugar and carbs. It's now been 3 months after surgery. My total loss is 120 lbs so far, and my current weight is 306.
I'm nearing getting to below 300 lbs for the first time in a long time. Then its a matter of getting to my goal weight.
It's truly a lifestyle change as I have relearned how to eat. I went from liquid diet to soft foods to regular. I had to learn to listen to my stomach, chew chew chew and work on the amount of food I am taking in. My stomach now is about the size of a banana.
Due to the weight loss, I have gotten my life back.
No more High Blood Pressure Medicine
No Heart Medicine
No Pre Diabetic Medicine
No more sleep apnea or Bpap machine.
No more acid reflux.
I also have renewed energy and can wear clothes I haven't been able to wear for a long time.
Was the surgery worth it? Yes it was.
