Football fans traveling to Lincoln to the Big Red’s season opener on Aug. 30 against Florida Atlantic will encounter a number of highway construction projects.
The Nebraska Department of Roads plans to minimize lane closures on home-game weekends, but drivers will still encounter some lane and speed restrictions.
Lincoln area:
» Interstate 80: Northwest 56th Street to Exit 399 (U.S. Highway 77), in west Lincoln.
» Interstate 80: Eastbound 56th Street/U.S. Highway 77 (Exit 405) to Waverly (Exit 409).
» U.S. Highway 6: Southwest 40th Street, west of Lincoln.
» U.S. Highway 34: 84th Street to east of Lincoln.
Statewide:
» Interstate 80: Big Springs to Brule; Paxton to Lincoln County line; Hershey east; North Platte east; Gothenburg interchange; and Hampton to Waco. Expect speed reductions, possible lane restrictions and some head-to-head traffic.
» U.S. Highway 6: Hastings to the Harvard spur. Expect possible lane restrictions and speed reductions.
