How crazy is Memorial Stadium, anyway?

welcome, welcome, welcome. this is an awesome day for our conference.

you have been asking about our stadiums in the B10. how about yours?

the Shoe and the Big House are enormous, but they can kind of be full of a 'will you sit down, i'm trying to watch the game' kind of crowd.

Camp Randall is the craziest crowd in the league, with Happy Valley a close 2nd.

what kind of crowds does Nebraska have? big and polite or loud and crazy?

are you quick to boo your own team?

kind of be full of a 'will you sit down, i'm trying to watch the game' kind of crowd.
I've only sat outside the student section once, and I will do whatever I have to do to make sure I never sit out there again...

Pretty much the polite type, save for a pretty rowdy college section. I never have, or don't remember, booing the other team. If a team comes into Lincoln and beats us on our home turf then they deserve respect and applause. Now a time or two I do remember booing our own team.

I can't wait to visit the b10 stadiums and learn your traditions. I have heard some callers insinuate that Penn State fans are not the nicest of fans, but I do not believe they can be any worse then the trash of Colorado, Kstate and Missouri. Those are just horrible places if you are a Cornhusker.

Well, it depends on were you sit. We have our share of the "sit down I am trying to watch the game crowd" as well. I'll say this though, we have the most kick A$$ entrance in all of college football if you ask me. Look up the Husker Tunnel Walks on Youtube and you will see what I am talking about. By the way, hope this all rings true, really looking forward to playing in the Big 10+1+? :cheers !!! Can't wait to get the :power chant going against some Big 10 competition.

For the most part, most of Husker Nation is excited about joining the Big 10. Of course, the blue hairs are worried about it.

As for the atmosphere/crowd, you have your fair share of "sit down" people, who are usually about 100 yrs old. The rest of the crowd will be very loud on defense. We applaud the opposing team after the game as they leave the field, win or lose. We have on occasion booed our own team, but it will cause an uproar on talk radio for the next week.

Pre-game tailgating is top notch. You will find that 95% of Husker fans will invite you over for a burger/brat if you are wearing the opposing colors. 5% are douche bags. If someone in the crowd is being an a$$, he/she will generally get shouted down by the rest of the crowd.

I am biased, but I think it is one of the best atmospheres around for college football. I can't wait to experience game day in Columbus, Ann Arbor, Iowa City, etc. GO BIG RED!!

you Huskers will learn to hate the song 'Jump Around' on the road at Wisky and that stupid growling cat noise they use every time Penn State does something good...

what else can i warn you about?...

The cat growl can't be any worse than K-States

I guess it's either a growling cat noise or the

.

where does Lincoln fall on the cultural scale between 'typically Midwestern' and 'Redneck'?

i will admit some folks over here are saying 'why are we letting these cornfed yahoos in our league?' and forgetting that you can go 5 miles outside the Columbus city limits and feel like you are in Alabama or something...

Yes, Leave Camp Randall Stadium between the 3 and 4 quarter. It looks fun, but the stadium feels like it going turn into Camp Randall pile of crap.

OSU's band plays the same 2 songs over and over. If you want the attention of somebody just yell OH, and everyone will stop what they are doing and yel IO back at you.....In the stadium you hear the back and forth OH-IO alot.

The Skull Session is pretty neat and needs to be done at least once, and Carmen Ohio does grow on you.

Get there early and check it out.

Man am I excited for Nebraska v OSU....I have a feeling I will be picking up tickets everytime Nebraska comes to cbus.

"It's beautiful. When you walk in here and you see nothing but red, that doesn't exist anywhere else. I can't recall walking into a stadium anywhere else where you see such a monochromatic scene." - CF

personally, all that skull session stuff is neat once for a buckeye, but i always enjoy Lane Ave outside the stadium. espically Hineygate!!! Beer, Music, Drunk Buckeye Girls Flashing!!! by far the better tradition.
