How did you get your spending money while in college?

Head Coach
I worked at Lincoln Trap and Skeet for one day, the people there sucked!

Then I did lawn care for Tom Olson Lawn Care for a long time but I forget what he paid us, 8 dollars an hour maybe.

Then of course, I sold CD's that I ordered with fake names from BMG

Then I gambled which really never produced money for me but I loved getting the betting sheet and looking it over while in class!

I worked two jobs during the summer for 70+ hours per week and saved my money so I didn't have to work during the school year

Yeah, I also worked over the summer, that is a great way to save up the cash! I had to pay for half of my school though so I still had to pick up some extra work

I worked a couple part-time jobs during college.

I worked for a few months with the University Foundation. That wasn't terrible. It was basically calling UNL alumni, asking for donations to their respective college. That job was nice because there were no weekend hours.

My last couple of years, I worked at a shoe store at the Gateway Mall. My boss was really cool and gave me all the home game Saturdays off. My senior year, I only had classes on Tuesday and Thursday, so I was able to work M-W-F during the week. Working on Sundays was an adventure because we would all be super hung over from our Saturday nights. I am sure you could smell all the alcohol coming out of our pores.

Just joking on that last post. Im no Heisenberg.

I did do some umpiring during spring and summer. Good money. Remember making over $2000 in one weekend doing games for the Memorial Day tournaments in town.

The abuse you get was too much for me though. There are some real d bags out there that take little league too seriously. I got a lot of horror stories from parents and coaches. This is why as a coach now, I give the umpire the benefit of the doubt bc I know how hard it is. Yes I have gotten on umpires pretty good but only when I know they are only there for the money and are not working hard. Trust me, you can tell.

I help coach my son's baseball team, and I am always nice to the umpires. I did a little umpiring when I was young, and I know how much it sucks to have bad guy parents ragging on you all game.

I worked at Bryan Memorial between 32-40 hours per week while going to school full time. I went to summer school too so there wasn't a difference between summer and the school year.

I worked construction over the summers and made bank. Didn't really work during the school year but I was the kitchen manager for our frat so got half off my house bill in exchange for locking and unlocking the kitchen doors for our cook. Honest, only abused my position once or twice for late night snacks.

My son is in college now and he works 30-40 hours per week as a pool manager, lifeguard, and youth sports official and scorekeeper. He seems to have enough time to also keep up with his 16-18 hours of classes but, he's a lot better student than I ever was.

Worked construction during the summers and on breaks for all 8 years.

Worked various retail jobs during the school year in undergrad and clerked with a county attorney's office and a lobbying firm during grad school.

I was paying for an engagement ring while I was in college so there wasn't much spending money aside from that. But what money I did have I worked 30-40 hours at a big box lumber yard and was a member of the National Guard.

I was so poor for 2 years but it was a great time.

Man, the old kitchen manager gig! Nice work!

I think I hashed one semester or said I was going to hash for a few dollars off the old bill.
