How did you get your spending money while in college?

Worked construction one summer, and as a hay mill operator for three summers. Also worked at a liquor store, part time, one summer. I'd also work part time for my farmer dad doing field work through about mid-June each spring. (He was a real cheapskate about paying me--that's why I worked all the other jobs). For three summers I bought a pen of hogs right after school ended in the spring semester and feed them out over the summer. I could clear around $1000 per summer on the hogs. During the school year I used to scalp football tickets. I'd also buy dorm furniture at the end of the school year when people were moving out of the dorms. I'd keep it in storage over the summer and then then three months later I'd sell it to people moving into the dorms for about 5X as much. I'd clear $400 to $500 doing with the dorm furniture. Between the summer jobs, raising hogs, ticket scalping and dorm furniture sales I'd make between $5k to $6k per year.

Worked at a hotel, worked at Goodyear as a Co-op and donated plasma. Wrote checks to myself from one account to another account to cover my gambling habit.

Ha ha! I forgot all about selling plasma. I used to do that my frosh year with a couple buddies. Then we'd spend it on booze. I quit doing it after the plasma center goofed up one time. They told me that couldn't put my blood back in because they had somehow contaminated it. (They gave me an extra $50 for keeping my blood.) I figured if they screwed up like that once, what's to keep them from screwing up and putting some other dude's blood back into my arm? Not worth the risk.

I saved most of my paychecks from my High school job but loaned it to my Dad my last year just before he unexpectedly died a couple of months before I started UNL.

Got Social Security from Dad dying, but donated Plasma for Gas Money to go back home every other weekend to see my Girlfriend and spend some time with my Mom.

Worked at the Federal Bld my last two years in college for the Soil Conservation Service, plus ShopKo in the Camera dept and ADM as a Soybean Oil Chemist my Sr year..

I slept on Tuesdays.
