How do college teams get team colors??

Any one know how colleges decided on team colors or if they represent anything. Just wondering. B)

I would probably say when the school is founded, the school board or the president of the school would pick the colors/name

Well, in some cases it can be based on the team name. Being stuck here in Arknasas, I'm inundated by Hog trivia. The Razorbacks were originally called the Cardinals. They selected red for that reason. When they switched to Razorbacks, the color had become so closely aligned with the team that they kept it.
