A lot is forgotten about that black friday as well that that game was actually closer than what it seems looking back. Fumble on the one yard line away from that thing being 42-37 going to the fourth. It was 35-3 at one point, and 42-16, yet that one sh#t play early in the 3rd. The fumble on the one that woulda made it 42-30, and Nebraska scored again after that anyway. Obviously it went back to sh#t in the 4th, but yeah. Once it was 35-3, Nebraska stopped CU on 6 of its next 7 possessions.

It's weird this is being talked about. The other night i posted the youtube link to this game with the comment "never forget". More of a trolling joke, only because I had just taken part in an intriging discussion about these very thoughts of mine about that game.
I could not agree more. The 2 bad things about that season were the 2 Colorado RBs and how we got stomped by a superior Miami team. Other than that it was a great season with a great victory over Oklahoma.

I never, ever, EVER thought Nebraska fans would be so desperate they'd refer to two games where NU got embarrassed, twice, on national television, and ushering in a 27 game stretch with a losing record as "not that bad"

Never said that. Didnt intend to insinuate that. Just pointing out the interesting thought that that game was not the 60 minute total runaway that we see it as looking back if you get into the details of that game. Nebraska fell behind 35-3, but had crawled back into the game by the middle of the 3rd quarter. Our defense, after starting so bad, and ending so bad, stopped CU on 6 of 7 possessions in order to do so. Yes, I will play the what-if game, cuz as a fan, it's my god given right, that had Diedrick not fumbled and scored on our first possession of the 3rd quarter, and it wound up being 42-37 after 3 instead of 42-30, who knows what happens.

That game is just remembered as so strange because it was something that we just had really never seen before. And all the statistical records that were broken and streaks that were ended. Not to mention, not really understanding as a fanbase at the time like you said that it was such an eery sign of things to come.
