I voted an 8 because I just don't know what to expect, and don't want to be so excited but this season should be a good one.

2002 started me on some sort of a numbing cycle. I am always nuts for cfb season, but I've tempered it a bit here for the last few years. I'd have put a 6 but put a 7 because I feel we are going to tromp three shades of $&%# out of Texas this year. We're going to have a good year, and I'm excited about all aspects, defense should be killer, and offense will be much improved. I'm still waiting for us to be top 5 and nc contenders each year again like in the 80's before I'm ready to say we're "where we need to be" but I'm stoked about the program and where it's headed right now. Fall, cfb and hunting season is always my favorite time of year.

I put a 10 because honestly, who isn't already jacked up for Husker football? When I look at this question, I don't look at it in the sense of how well do I think the team will do, I'm just looking at it in the sense of how excited I am for the season itself. That's why I give it a 10.

I was thinking the same as you.....had to go with a 10 because I'm always jacked for the start of every season

Agree with Enhance.

Although this season I'm worried. 2007 was a season where many of us were hella excited. I figured since 2006 we were probably national championship bound or something, with a former Heisman hopeful transplant at QB. We saw 8-4, 9-5, and just figured improvement every year.

We all know what happened next. This season is somewhat similar in terms of our expectations, and of course I think there's little chance of an '07 like collapse happening. I just don't know if we will meet these sky-high expectations. I hope we won't be disappointed if that happens. We're still building up a fragile little dynasty now, and it's in the infancy. Stability is more important than anything. If we can start stringing together 9 win seasons year-in, year-out, I'd call that a success. I know we all want more, but it's the foundation that's important, and besides, it's unreasonable to expect championships year-in, year-out.

That said, I can't wait to get this season started!

I'm not sure I could ever put anything other than a 10...any year. Even if I don't expect to challenge for a Big XII or NC, it's still Nebraska football and I'm always excited.

its always a 10.
These ones are correct.

I agree with everyone comparing this off-season and pre-2007. Although I think we are A LOT more legit this time around, I can't help but worry about a let down. On the bright side though, I see the most plausible let down being about 8-4 or 9-3 as opposed to 5-7 and THAT defense.

Solid 9 as of right now. I do believe we are Big 12 Championship quality this year on defense and for some reason i see an explosion on offense this year. I dont know why but no way do we repeat last years offense. I'll be a 10 come Sept

I voted 10 because i get just as excited as every year. Not just because of the Huskers, but I love college football in general(except for USC, Michigan,ND, and MIzzou). College football on 6 nights a week sometimes, it cant get better than that.

But Im really excited about this year because we are so close, we can almost taste it. Defense is great, Specials Teams is great. The offense just needs to be "tad bit better." We were so close in 3 of those losses last year, we could have had a Big 12 Championship and a BCS win). It just fuels my excitement even more.

I went with 8 because our defense and Carl/Bo are awesome! Our offense and SW is....well....

I feel good about 8!

I agree with the popular sentiment.....every season's a 10 for me. I can't recall any season where that wasn't the case, for one reason or another.

Yet, this season is different too. The fall from the nation's elite has made everyone appreciative for season's like the coming one. We're not taking for granted a potential preseason top 10 ranking, and that adds a lot of excitement. Last season has a feeling of redemption to it, both in how it ended and how it progressed.

Position wise there is a lot of excitement. Niles Paul is at a place right now where the expectations on him should be extremely high. I fully expect him to live up to those and to end next season as a guy on both the conference and national radar. I really, really like the potential in this receiving corps, and it isn't just Niles. We have several playmakers on this team and I think once the season starts to take shape 1 or 2 of them will break from the pack and showcase what they can do.

I'm not exactly going out on a limb here and saying Rex is going to have a MONSTER year. A lot of the RB talk has centered on guys pushing Roy with an implication that Roy is still the lead dog. Roy had better buckle his chin straps and lace 'em up tight because Rex will be awfully hard to keep off of the field this year.

There is a lot to be excited for offensively. Watching last year's tape closely the offensive plays went better than commonly believed. We were so close so often to making things work. It was usually a small execution error that kept things from happening. Inexperience and injuries are the cause there, and with any kind of luck we make it through the season healthier. At the very least, we're much, much deeper across the entire team to be able to better manage those situations.

Defensively, as good as the team ended last year it is easy to forget that the defense didn't really find its rhythm until the second half of the season. Sure, the numbers were good against the Sun Belt All-Stars, but the play wasn't on par with what it should have been. Its easy to forget that this great defense didn't earn their blackshirts from Pelini until prior to the Texas Tech game. Like the offense, the defense is further ahead right now than in the past and it is exciting to see what it may do over the full course of next season.

Finally, this season has been anticipated for some time. Last summer, much of the buzz was already about 2010. A lot of people were almost thinking of 2009 at the time as an afterthought. 2009 was more part of the process and 2010 the destination. That excitement has only intensified in the last year.

i haven't been this excited, probably ever. i know people will question the credibility of my fandom, but i really lost interest in the huskers during the Callahan and SP era. I started out excited, but still not this excited. I regained my interest and excitement during Bo's first year. But i knew this would be that best year because this is truly Bo's year, this is his 3rd year, and that is an important year for a coach who is rebuilding a broken program. Bo has improved the team and program each of the past two years, and now everything is falling into place. he has really built something spectacular, and you know he has learned a lot from every game. This is the most i have ever been because it is Bo's 3rd year, we have the players we need and want, and the progression of the past two years (particularly last year, i felt bo really figured it out and now he has the knowledge and experience necessary for a MNC run). it is the perfect storm, but i do not think we are as excited for this team as the rest of the big XII should be afraid of this team.

GBR!
