How has Penn State completely passed NU?

Three-Star Recruit
I assumed incorrectly that Penn State would not recover for 15-20 yrs after receiving sanctions. So how is it possible that they won a Big 10 Championship? How is it possible they currently lead a USC team that many felt should be in the playoff? How is it possible they have a far superior team to Nebraska? Watching Penn State makes me feel Nebraska has stagnated at best and more likely regressed.

Coaching, recruiting, attitude and far better talent........Their offense looks great. Defense is suspect. Giving up a lot of points to USC. Then again, it's USC.....

Because they went out and hire an experienced coach that have a long history of doing less with more… And now they are reaping the rewards of that! They didn't go hire some young hot shot.

Also sanctions were lifted early, and an AD that knows how to hire a hot coach or two.

There is obviously more to it then this, but QB play is an obvious answer.... McSorley is more productive, and less mistake-prone then Tommy ever dreamed of being.

^ I believe this is more or less the answer. Good play from the QB position will win you a lot of games.

Nebraska imposed their own sanctions when they fired two coaches with 70% winning percentages. NU has become such an easy school for others to negatively recruit.

Again. James Franklin went 7-6, 7-6 in his first two years. Last year PSU fans were probably moping about how they were soft, had no heart, their coordinators sucked, etc, etc, etc.

Why do you think Nebraska has no chance of making it to the Rose Bowl next year?

And are we so certain Penn State will return? They could lose four games next year. Or maybe they'll make a big run. Who knows?

Is this a trick question?

They have better players, better coaches and the university has done everything in their power to make the program successful....this isn't rocket science.

IF NU ever wants to be elite again, the bean counters need to open their purses and pony up some money for a quality staff. What do you expect from a life time .500 coach at the tail end of his career?

You can't win championships with a budget staff; we'll always be a middle of the road program, just accept it and move on with life.

enjoy the games with your friends, have some fun, root for the team, but don't expect to be nationally relevant any time soon.

C'mon. This has been discussed ad nauseam

Weren't they coming off a near death penalty? It wasn't like they had a streak of 9 and 10 win seasons previous to Franklin being hired.
