How is Michigan an instant contender after two season with a new coach?

We just got smashed again on national television this time by Ohio State 62-3. How in the hell are we making progress?????!!!!!! Because we have a winning record???!!! *cough*

The reason we are not an instant contender is pretty simple. The kind of talent we have doesn't fit the kind of scheme that our coaches are comfortable coaching. You can say what you want but it's very hard for a group of coaches that are extremely well versed in the pro style type offense to take over a program with a QB that is far from what they are accustomed too, and an OL with about as much quality depth as Arkansas State and be able to turn that into a prolific offense. And in all honesty they have done a decent job.

Then there is the defense, one that lost 2 NFL caliber DT's and the kids that Bo recruited do not fit what this staff wants to do on defense. And it showed against OSU. Bo recruited kids that fit his system, a system that was very effective against traditional pocket passers but struggled mightily against mobile QB's and any kind of run game.

HCMR and staff has so far been the better at recruiting what seems to be a higher caliber of talent and it will take some time to get his recruits in order and on the field. Once he does we should have a very quality program but it usually takes 4-5 years before that happens. Coaches like Harbaugh, Meyer, Saban, and Fisher are the exception not the rule. Be glad we didn't hire the likes of Will Muschamp.

see. I'm not like some people I'm different in that even though i like this staff so far, i also have the smarts enough to not absolve them of all blame and just put all blame on the former staff. We're gettin real close to 2 years now since these guys were hired. And regardless of past coaching or current skill, some things that are bad and misexecuted, there really cant be an excuse for. Lettin guys cross your face on zone? That's a cardinal sin that you learn at the pee wee level. And it happened more than once. Has happened more than once this year. Seriously? Can you stop trolling and try to be positive for once? It's not impossible for anyone to win the conference in 4 years, hell, Illinois could win it in 4 years.

Michigan State won it last year, and look where they're at. Heck, Wisconsin could win it this year.

What has Harbaugh ever won? I wasn't aware Michigan had already beat Ohio State. Harbaugh has been close in his coaching career, but he really hasn't won anything. I keep seeing people put his name besides Saban, Meyer, Belichick, etc. Those guys have won National Championships and Super Bowls. Harbaugh hasn't even won a conference championship. The other thing about Harbaugh is the fact that he never stays anywhere very long. He may only be at Michigan another couple of years. It would be quite comical if Harbaugh did jump ship in a couple of years because of the amount of money Michigan spent. This is the thing that is driving me further and further away from college football. The money is going to eventually ruin the game.

Well harbaugh has already built 3 programs/franchises that were total and complete garbage into instant championship contenders. i fail to see the spin on how he isnt a great coach. Championships cant be allowed to tell the whole story.
