I've been rolling this around in my head for awhile; finally got around to posting it.
I wonder how many "new faces" we'll see making plays this year? Two different categories (that overlap). First, how many guys who we're really in the rotation last year will make a significant impact this year? Second, how many guys who weren't even on the team last year will make an impact?
There is a lot of interpretation in these questions. For me, if a guy was playing a lot last year he doesn't count. Even if he didn't do much last year and has a big year this year, if he was out there a lot last year, that's not what I'm considering a "new face". Also, what constitutes a "significant impact" this year? Again, people's opinions will vary but I'd say if a guy is playing a lot of snaps, he's having a significant impact on the season. Interpret either how you will.
Here are a couple lists of guys who I think fit the categories as possibilities:
New to the Team:
Transfers: RB Greg Bell, WR Mike Williams, WR Jaron Woodyard, DT Vaha Vainuku, LB Will Honas, LB Breon Dixon, DB Will Jackson, DB Deontai Williams
Freshmen: QB Adrian Martinez, RB/WR Miles Jones, RB Maurice Washington (?), WR Justin McGriff, WR Katerian LeGrone, WR Andre Hunt, WR Dominick Watt, TE Cameron Jurgens, OL Will Farniok, OL Willie Canty (?), DE Tate Wildeman, DE Casey Rogers, LB David Alston, LB Caleb Tannor, CB Braxton Clark, CB Cam Taylor, S CJ Smith, S Cam'ron Jones, K Barret Pickering
Didn't play much last year (would also include the guys above):
Seniors: DT Peyton Newell, LB Sedrick King
Juniors: TE Matt Snyder, OL Jalin Barnett, OL Christian Gaylord, DE Daishon Neal, LB Tyrin Ferguson, DB Avery Anderson
Sophomores: RB Jaylin Bradley, TE Jack Stoll, OL Boe Wilson, OL John Raridon, LB Pernell Jefferson, LB Avery Roberts, LB Quayshon Alexander, CB Tony Butler, S JoJo Domann, S Marquel Dismuke
RS Freshmen: QB Tristan Gebbia, WR Jaevon McQuitty, TE Austin Allen, TE Kurt Rafdal, OL Broc Bando, OL Matt Sichterman, DT Damion Daniels, DE Chris Walker, LB Guy Thomas
