In a game full of infuriating things, many of which directly involved the Huskers on the field, perhaps the most frustrating one was watching Joe Burrow trot out late and immediately lead the Buckeyes down the field for a touchdown. If you don’t recognize the last name, Joe’s father played for the Huskers and currently coaches for Frank Solich at Ohio, and Joe’s two older brothers played in Lincoln as well.

...

In that game, we saw what happens when you (a) miss out on viable QB prospects; and (b) entirely whiff on multiple classes of offensive linemen. That a school like Nebraska played the entire second half with a walk on QB behind three walk on offensive linemen is absolutely nauseating. Doubly so when it comes against arguably the most talented team in the country.

I mean, I can at least understand not running outside as much against Ohio State (compared to every other opponent) because of their speed.

But it's not like they don't have any good players up the gut as well. And when you run straight ahead, you're completely dependent on a banged up OL to get a push. If you go outside you at least have a chance to have your RB make someone miss - that is .... assuming you run outside with a back that has some shimmy and not your power back.

But 19 Inside Zone runs vs. 1 Outside Zone run? We really thought that 95% of the time that gave us a better chance?

Roughly 21 inside and 3 outside overall? Doesn't seem like that's a recipe for success, considering it has been pretty steadily less successful all year.

Not to mention Wilbon was averaging 4.3/carry that game and only got 3 touches...... Langs needs to go look at film from games 1-5 and use those plays. OL wrecked? Earn your money......

Mikale yards came out of our 2 back package and we are really limited with the play book in that personnel. Especially without a mobile qb. Also take into consideration most of our successful outside run plays have a designed qb read implemented. Do you think we are going to run the inverted veer qb read without a mobile qb or a serviceable backup. We were extremely handcuffed in what we could run offensively and it didn't matter if we ran inside or outside, we weren't going to find any real estate without the qb run game. Everyone knew going into this game Tommy was going to have to turn it loose and run bc that was our only equalizer to the more talented osu defense.

The run game is so predictable since last year.

From the down and distance to the type of run (up the middle for the RB, or outside with the fly sweep for the man-in-motion). It's terribly predictable and needs to change. I mean, it doesn't take anything for a DC to look at a little film and grin.
