Husker Clone Team

NUance

Assistant Coach
Here’s the rules: You can clone any Husker player past or present to create a team. 22 spots, all the same guy. (Actually, 25 spots or so if you include kickers, punter, holder , etc.)

I’m reaching back a decade to go with Adam Carriker. He played QB and rush end in high school, and ran track. My Carriker-Husker team will feature an awesome defensive line, decent offensive line, and surprisingly good offensive backfield. Great on short yardage situations. It was rumored that Carriker could throw the ball 70 yards in the air. So there’s that. Our LBs hit like a ton of bricks, but our DBs struggle in coverage.

Hey, it’s offseason.

Lawrence Phillips. He'd probably be effective at any position on the field: fast, strong, mean. 22 of him on the field would simply scare the $h!t out of the opposing team. Hell I'm scared just thinking about it.

Suh...who needs DBs when you have multiple Suhs up front.

Offense would feature a crushing run game.

Taylor Martinez. Hes a QB WR and DB.

Suh would be great considering he can also kick field goals

I think Scott Frost is probably the best answer. Good enough passing ability to be a quarterback, good enough runner to be a runningback, insane athleticism to play other skill positions, and big enough body to fill in the back 7 on defense.

I want my team to be comprised of the guy that was the state champ in the sprints and the throws.

I guess I want to know is the team of clones playing another clone team or are they playing this years schedule of teams?

If your clones are playing real teams, your going to need some sound blockers with size to even have a chance. I don't foresee Scott Frost or Eric Crouch doing anything to stop another team's d-line.

If your clones are playing other clones, i can see the benefit of just being athletic and trying to outrun the other clone team.

If we play a real team and our clone player is a lineman we aren't going to gain any yards and they will pass it over the top of us every single play. I'd take Scott Frost on the offensive line before I'd take Will Shields at quarterback or trying to defend a wide receiver.

They're playing our regular schedule. But it could be clone players from the other team. Like a whole team of Taylor Lewans for Michigan. In which case they'd probably have 500 yards of penalties. And get thrown out of the game by halftime.

gill - mobile enough to avoid the pass rush that he couldn't block - quick enough to stop the rush on D, yet isn't going to get burned on the deep route all day.

my top 3 choices would be Suh, Rex and Christian Peter

Suh - well it's obvious the dude is just an athletic freak who can kick field goals. With a line of him blocking, plus a full back for a lead blocker. The offense would be almost unstopable. Wouldn't even need to worry about a passing game.

Rex - He maybe small and at a disadvantage cause of it. But the kid has heart, soul and determination. I could deal with not being the best team if it's full of players like that.

Christian Peter - to most of yall this maybe a strange choice. But he was fierce, talented, strong and gave 110%. Plus he and the rest of the defense was feared. With his intensity would be fun to watch. Only problem would be figuring how to legally lock all of the women in and around Lincoln up to keep him out of trouble.
