Husker Fans Continue to Impress

What's so wrong about tweeting out information like this? Husker fans SHOULD be proud of how well they turn out and support their athletic teams.
or sometimes it means that people don't have anything else to do with their time and money...

Not a dig here, but other locales have competing interests for people's leisure time which might play into the answer to "Well, what are we going to do this weekend?"
Other than going to other sporting events, I'm not sure what other places have to offer that Lincoln/Omaha don't. To be fair, you could make that argument about rural Nebraska (which isn't to say that there isn't plenty to do out there if you're so inclined) but there are plenty of things other than going to a Husker game to do on the weekends here. Special occasion notwithstanding, I'd pass up on any of them to go to a Husker game.

See? We get to do all the cool stuff all the city slickers never get to do!

Several major division one universities are based in towns/areas comparable (and some even smaller) to Lincoln and the surrounding communities. Yet, Nebraska beat those places out.

I understand the point you're arguing, I just don't think it holds a lot of water. Sure, a university like USC is going to be surrounded by more outlets for people to enjoy their leisure time. But, a place like Tuscaloosa, Ala., is not. Eugene, Ore., is not.

Tuscaloosa is very close to a huge city in Birmingham, and Eugene is only two hours from Portland. This doesn't diminish our accomplishments as a fanbase at all, but the surrounding areas are just as important as the towns themselves with these sorts of things, imo.

It has more to do with the fact that NU athletics are the only thing in the state for people to enjoy. No professional or other division 1 schools.
