Let me go full Homer fan here: Tom did more with less than any coach ever in college football. When considering the recruiting obstacles at Lincoln and the fact that our bowl games were often against teams who were playing in their own back yards, Tom could be consider the greatest of all times - based on the limitations and on him winning 3 NC and one play away from winning the NC at least 4 more times examples: Ref stolen game vs PSU - 1 yard out of bounds & trapped ball called a TD; FSU ref disaster - phantom clip on punt return for TD and no call on obvious fumble by FSU towards end of game, Miami Going for 2 instead of 1(and a for sure NC) and having a flu ravaged team that gave up a surprise pass vs texass 1996 Big 12 CCG. - and there probably a couple of others when sooner magic hit us unexpectedly.
