Husker for the day: Nebraska boy with genetic disorder will take the field with his heroes on Saturday
Jack Johnson is a sports fanatic.

On football Saturdays, he’s a devoted Husker fan.

He watches every game in his Jordan Westerkamp jersey and Blackshirts hat until the clock ticks down to the final seconds.

But Jack doesn’t just want to watch Husker games. He wants to be a Husker.

And Saturday, the 8-year-old’s dream will come true.

With the help of Make-A-Wish Nebraska, Jack will become a Husker for the day, participating in pre-game activities and spending time on the field.

The second-grader from Norfolk signed his honorary letter of intent Tuesday to make it official.

“When you say once-in-a-lifetime experience, that is, in the truest form, what’s happening to Jack right now,” said his mother, Michelle Johnson.

Well glad some of you were man enough to say it. I was crying like a baby, and am again. Two children afflicted with this disease.

Maybe the board could take it on as something to fight along with Apraxia.
