My guess?  (And this is all it is) He and Coach Frost have different opinions on the types of kids to recruit.  He probably wants to go after mostly athletes in the southeast, not kids from Nebraska or the 500 mile radius.  I guess it really doesn't matter at this point.

They might also not have been willing to pay him what Alabama pays. I have no idea what this position pays, and maybe we could afford whatever Alabama would pay, but if it had put him above any of the assistant coaches, they probably would've had to give the assistant coaches raises too.

 
It's difficult for me to care one way or another since I'm not convinced directors of player personnel make any actual difference in terms of wins and losses.
