Cockiness is never the answer. If he is cocky, karma will get him. It always does.
And frankly, I am not a fan of "in your face" even if it's directed at the other team. Nothing says "in your face" like consistantly beating the jocks off opponents and throttling his every attempt to stay with you. Just execute with precision and passion and that alone is all the statement you need to clearly communicate to any opponent the idea that they don't deserve to even be in the same stadium as the Huskers.
Now, if, as a few have suggested, Keller has equally high expectations of himself, and delivers on those expecations, he then certainly should expect his teammates to deliver as well. But, I hope he has learned that leadership by ridcule or harangue is seldom, if ever, successful. What good does it do to get in someones face saying, in effect, I threw a great pass and you dropped it. Sometimes an a$$ chewing is appropriate but leadership by example is by far the better way to go. He's got to set so high a standard of excellence that every receiver he has, every blocker, every runner, would rather die than dissappoint. That's leadership.
I truly wish him the best because he's going to play for Nebraska. Apparently he's earned the right to make that statement and that, in itself, is worthy of respect. I just hope that the culture of classy leadership is part of his repertiore. Without it, he can be the greatest QB since Rutgers invented the damn game, but the team, and hence he, won't be successful.
Just my two cents worth.
Bring on the 07 Huskers!
Go Big Red!
