Idea on how to solve the Callahan problem

OK so we can't fire him. Fine, let's keep him as "head coach" and hire some big gun (Cowher, etc.) to serve as "offensive coordinator" and Venables as "defensive coordinator".

But if Cally's going to stay "head coach", he must agree to be under house arrest throughout the remaining term of his contract.

What if we tied him to the goal post and for $20 you could throw a water balloon at him, $100 make him run sprints and for $1000 you could make him watch our defense.

We could then get more than enough money to buy out his contract. The line would reach to California.

Agree! If we have to keep him and his businesslike attitude than we need to hire some fire and brimstone assistant coaches. This program is definitely lacking motivators. I wonder if Tony Robbins has any coaching experience.

Bill Cowher is light years above even considering coming from NFL excellence to be a head coach at a mid-level college program like Nebraska, much less come in as an assistant!

The Husker program has fallen so and is in such a shambles that demanding the attention of established coaches is going to be very difficult. There are 30+ college coaching positions more attractive than Nebraska and another 10 or so that are comparable --- no, getting someone in will be difficult. But.... if NU pays a wicked amount of $$$$, disproportionate to what other coaches typically get, well... then maybe we can get a reasonable coach. But Cowher!!!!

I think the problem with our team right now is not only that the coaching sucks and we're infected with Pederson, but we don't have the traditional blood playing hardly any role. People who know what this team means to the state and to Nebraskans in general should have high places in our program forever. This NFL business stuff is just not who we are. And God willing it never will be, either.

I completely agree with your comment. I think people totally underestimate the importance of tradition to this program. The emotion and ties to tradition are/were a big part of what made this program successful. We will not see much success as long we are infected with the Pedercallihan virus. But like any virus, it has to run its course. God help us.

If I was in charge this is what I would do.......

elmo, cos and peterson would be let go tomorrow @ 8 in the morning. thanks and good bye. I would promote buddy wyatt to DC. I would tell Bill that the offensive play calling was now watsons responsibility, and tell bill that he needs to focus on the team. I would inform him that if he could not get the players to respond(as in if we are going to go down it better be swinging) and we do not show improvement he was gone at the end of the year. if he did happen to improve I would give him one more year, but we would have to be a top 15 team or he was gone.

If we would keep him, in the offseason I would find a DC, I would really be looking for someone that I would want to take over as HC. that way we can pick a fresh young face, and we get to "take him for a test drive" if we like him, keep him, if not, he's gone with cally
