IF we could win the Big 12

I like how you left off my point of hoping the team isn't thinking about that. Might want to put your pancake headded rabbit away.
I left it out on purpose because I don’t believe posts on a random message board equate to how players, that actually play the game, are thinking.

We are fans, us looking ahead to the Big 12 title game has no effect on the outcome of the up coming games. Come Saturday night at 6:45 I will be sitting at a family Thanksgiving watching the game. Whether or not I take KSU seriously will in no way effect how the team plays or what their mindset is.

I find it hard to believe that when we upset Texas that the Fiesta Bowl would pick Iowa or Penn State who are currently 13 & 14 in the BCS standings. I could be wrong though because finically that would be huge for them.

If Florida beats Alabama (Unless they get totally blown out) and we beat Texas I think that a 1 loss Alabama team will stay ranked ahead of the Big East Champion, Boise State, and TCU. This would make the title game a Florida/Alabama rematch (which if you are against the current system would be great ammunition). I don’t think this would be the case if Alabama beats Florida though because I think that the voters have been looking for a reason to drop them in the polls but haven’t yet because they keep winning.
You might be right about an Alabama-Florida rematch if Texas is out. But I think a second Big 10 team is very likely because of the fan base. Since most projections have Texas winning, the question seems to be whether Boise St or Oklahoma St gets the last spot. The would seem to put Boise out if we snatch a spot.

One thing is if we win the B12 then Flordia or Alabama have a free shot at the championship playing cincy.

Can you say bittersweet :dunno

But mostly sweet

i say we beat TX in the big 12, alabama beats florida in the sec and alabama and tcu play for the ship...as for us, id love to play against any top team in a bowl so we can finally have a upset we have needed in years!

Thanks for the input, for those who stayed on topic.

I don't think the pollsters allow the SEC loser into the title game. There's been too much backlash in past years when teams that don't win their conference make it in. BCS conference or not, TCU has a legitimately great team this year, and I don't see them getting left out for a rematch game. With 120 teams and 12-game schedules, rematches are ridiculous IMO.

Let's say Bama beats Florida. Based on VA's post, I would predict the bowls would go something like this:

Championship: #1 Alabama vs. #2 TCU

Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Ohio St.

Sugar Bowl: Florida vs. Iowa/Boise/Cincinnati

Orange Bowl: Georgia Tech vs. Texas

Fiesta Bowl: Nebraska vs. Iowa/Boise/Cincinnati

Of course, if Clemson beats GT, GT becomes a viable option for an at-large spot, possibly beating out Iowa. I don't see Penn St. beating out Iowa. Maybe if Iowa had gotten rocked by OSU, but the close loss means their fans are still in it, and they travel well.

I didn't realize that either Boise or Iowa will get get left out completely. Since Cincinnati would be Big East champs, they are guaranteed a spot. If the Fiesta took Iowa, the Sugar would have to take Cincinnati, leaving Boise out completely. If the Fiesta took Boise, the Sugar would have to take Cincinnati, leaving Iowa out completely. If the Fiesta took Cincinnati, the Sugar gets their choice between Boise and Iowa.

So the question would be, who would the Fiesta likely pick between 12-0 Boise, 12-0 Cincinnati and 10-2 Iowa? For whatever reason, Cincinnati is projected below the other two from what I've seen. So I guess it's likely the Fiesta takes either Boise or Iowa... but I don't know which one. To me, it seems hard to imagine undefeated Boise (even with their poor schedule strength) getting beaten out by a 10-2 team from a conference as mediocre as the Big 10.

Of course, I understand the chances of us beating both KSU and Texas are extremely small. Duh. But what fun would forums be if we weren't allowed to look ahead and speculate?

If we beat Texas, Iowa won't make BCS. Right now, the Big 10 probably has two BCS teams while the Big 12 has one (Texas). If we beat Texas, we'll get the automatic bid, but Texas will STILL get a BCS Bowl. So the second Big 10 team will get left out.

Oh, how sweet that would be. Make a BCS Bowl and knock Iowa out all in one.

You're certain that some bowl is going to pick Boise St over Iowa?
