If you were in the stadium early last Saturday, did you witness this by chance?

Looking for further proof that Alex Henery has reached cult-icon status around Memorial Stadium?

Get to the game early, and watch how he's cheered during warmups.

Nebraska's student section cheers for almost every practice kick the senior makes. The cheering grew to a near roar when Henery connected on a kick from close to 65 yards that hit the net with some room to spare.

i heard the cheers looked up and saw henery just finished kicking a field goal and was standing around the 50 yard line. i was disappointed i missed the actual kick, but it was fun to see the crowd getting into his warm-up.

My dad and I were both gawking, drool coming out of our mouths, when this happened. It was a 62 yard kick. I would guess he cleared it by 7-8 yards, right down the middle. The student section went bonkers as well.

Henery has kicked a 60+ yard field goal pre-game in every home game this season save maybe the first one, and the only reason I don't know about the first game is because I don't remember seeing him practice field goal kicks.

What is the NCAA record? I hope we give Henery a shot at a field goal at the edge of his range.

my guess in a game situation, he can make a 60 yard kick.

i think he has the range for 60-65 but in game situation he has to kick it low and those become easy to block.

I was in the stands, demolishing my runza. Then I heard the crowd starting cheering, puzzled at first. Then henery lined for would about 62-63 yard FG and nailed it by I say at least 6 yards. Then the crowd went nuts.

The FG that got blocked was from 50 I believe, looked like it just came out low and got stuffed.

They mentioned Henery's 60 + yard kick on tv and how the fans erupted. On his blocked kick, the play clock was winding down so they didn't have much time to set up and since the snap was hurried, it was a bit off throwing Henery's timing off. Personally, I would have liked Pelini to have let the play expire, push it back 5 yards, let Henery kick his field goal then with a smirk on his face, Pelini glance over to Pinkel with a "How you like me now biatch!?" look.

He can kick 62 yarders with ease. I have seen him kick a 62 yarder in practice with another 3-4 yards of cushion. He doesn't try anything more than 62 in practice though.

Clearly he doesn't have the range for 63 yarders. Lightweight. ;)

How cool/ironic would it be for Henery to kick a 60+ yarder against Colorado? Maybe we should "petition" Pelini to let Henery try it if the chance arises during the Colorado game

I'm a student; we have been standing and cheering for alex to make his pregame warmup 62-yarder since the Idaho game.

I think if come across another game this year where we have a very comfortable lead, we should cut a drive short early and let Henery go for the record.

If we have the opportunity to do this I say we line it up like a punt, with Henery ten yards back with the holder. That'll give him more room to have a lower, driving angle on the ball.
