Im still behind my team

All I am seeing is a bunch of post about how terrible BC called the game tonight. I agree at first I was very frustrated also but I've had time to think about it now.

Yes, he could of thrown it all over the place but that just gives SC more offensive possessions which they were moving the ball pretty easily when they wanted. I don't think he was playing not to lose and if he was I'm still behind him and this program. I think he thought if we kept running and wore them down keeping it close until the 4th quarter we could of opened it up and had a chance at it.

If it weren't for Lucky's fumble which resulted in a SC touchdown I think we would of had momentum going into the 4th and could of took a shot at it. Either way you look at it we lost and people are going to be mad at BC and his playcalling but look how far he has brought us.

What do you think would have happened if we played the same SC team we did tonight 2 years ago? I'm still behind BC and our players and we got plenty of damage to do the rest of the year.

By the way 1 loss doesn't eliminate us from a big 12 championship and a BCS bowl.

that fumble was HUGE....as was the fumble that we caused on a booty sack where the ball just happened to pop up in front of a usc back.

This is exactly my thinking. This team had a ton more talent than we did.

"seriously.... it was a good game plan IMO. We just didn't execute. We made mistakes and didn't capitalize on opportunities.

BC's gameplan kept us in the game the whole time, giving us a chance to win which was the point. we were still in it in the 4th quarter. Player mistakes kept us from making it closer or winning.

We needed to pass more??? maybe we should have... but ZT was flushed from the pocket about 5 times..... so there are 5 passes never made. We dropped 3 interceptions, that would mean less points for SC and in the Grix and Jones case... more points for us. We had penalties that negated a few long runs... that could have helped out the pass immensely.

I come away from the game level headed... We could have won, We didn't.

It was USC... We needed to capitalize on their mistakes and eliminate bad penalties and missed blocks...neither of which we really did. I know this all has two sides, but some people aren't even looking at the positive side and it is a little annoying."

that was a post i made earlier and it fits in a bit better with this thread...

There is a LOT of good coming from that game, a lot to be optimistic about...

Finally! A thread worth a damn. Guess I better get my .02 worth in again before the Husker Haters start commenting.

I figured in my own little game plan prior to the game we were going to try to run the ball quite a bit (makes sense now why NU has been running the ball so much in it's first 2 games) to wear down the USC defense and keep their offense off the field. Had we not made some critical mistakes (holding call, fumbles, dropped int's) We would have been in the game well into the 4th quarter. Our mistakes and USC's ability to capitalize on those mistakes lost us the game. Not the conservative game calling.

I totally agree if Billy C. would've opened it up it could of got ugly and the bump and run coverage mentioned by so many is LAUGHABLE Grixby in bump and run on Jarrett..................in a way I think some things good came out and could have even been closer if the ball wouild have bounced our way on a couple plays.......they will rebound and they got great experience against one of the best defesive fronts in college football...........................the season is not over and all hope is not lost.

we made some mistakes, sure........BUT NOT THAT MANY......i don't hate cally, i love the kids and the program......BUT, when we got to the 4th quarter and it was inevitable the plan to "wear down the Tojan D" was not working (duh, they had the line stacked, no way in hell were we gonna run successfully when they saw the plan to just keep running.....and ah, we have no Adrian Peterson here, coach) we should have switched gears and started throwing at least on every 1st down..

look, it was damn hard for me to watch the 4th quarter, knowing there was no plan to "attack" and try to win the game....at that point we were defeated, so who takes heart in losing by 18?....instead of 25 or 28 points? what difference does it really make? in the ratings? a moral victory? all i wanted to see was cally TRYING to win the game in the 4th quarter.....i did not see that and the game and his plan sucked for the entire 4th quarter.....and that is the truth, like it or not!

When you're playing against USC, it doesn't take many for them to capitalize and beat you.

:hmmm :hmmm :hmmm :hmmm

After thinking about it a bit more...

I think I understand Cally's plan.

He believe he wanted to run to keep the game close then open it up later.

I don't disagree with this gameplan, but I think he should have opened it up sooner...USC was onto it midway thru the second quarter. When BC did open it up, NU scored pretty easily (until they got inside the 10...USC's speed took over). USC was the better team...but not as far as some would like to think.

Once again, though, Coz's gameplan sucked. Few blitzes, he wanted to try to cover Jarrett and Smith. It didn't work when Booty got all damn day to find recievers. Even the best DB's couldn't cover their guys for that long. The front 4 shouldn't have been expected to pressure Booty by themselves, I don't care how damn good they are.

I still have a lot of faith in Cally, and I expect the Huskers to do well offensively this year if he stops being so damn stubborn! After opening it up a bit, Taylor didn't have much time. The O-Line still has a long ways to go. After calming down, I don't dislike the gameplan so much...but he should have used the power back more...Glenn must be in Cally's doghouse, because there is no other explanation for him not playing more. If he is, then kudos to Cally for sticking to his guns no matter what happened.

Coz just sucks, plain and simple. With the talent he has in the front 7, there is no excuse for not putting more pressure on Booty. I don't like and never will like Coz. The DB's couldn't have done any better, Coz already had them in 1 on 1 anyway. At least get pressure on Booty and try to force a few bad throws...base defense doesn't work all the time! Sheesh...Can you tell I don't like Coz? He is terrible, comparable to the job Bohl did.
