Infomercial Star Billy Mays Found Dead

I'd hate to be a celebrity age 50 and up right now. I just started watching Pitchmen about 2 days ago and it was a pretty neat show and I wouldn't mind watching it again next week. When I first watched Billy Mays do those Oxyclean commercials I thought that he was loud and annoying but after watching the show Pitchmen he's actually a down to earth nice guy. RIP Billy

Not to sound uncaring or crass but it seems many people make much ado about celebrity's dying. Why is that? Are they that much more important than our family members who have died??? Jesse Jackson never came to my mothers funeral. d!(k Clark didn't mourn my fathers death. meh I see people who are near death almost on a daily basis and have not once seen a TV crew in the hall wanting to hear their last words and who was near them when they died. $.02 and perspective.

yeah...but they're celebrities!

:-P

I understand what you're saying...but our culture pretty much centers around other people's lives. We love watching reality TV, we buy tabloids, want to know how Brad and Angelina are doing, look up to athletes as role models when we're young, we have daily discussions on online forums about firing head coaches or what should be done with a student athlete screws up....etc. It's just the way our society is...and probably will be for forever. Certain people in our world are held in higher regard than others.

I had been watching that show Pitchmen as well and he seemed like a nice guy. I feel bad for his family and hope they can find a cause for this. :WTH
