Intersting quote about Tome Osborne from Scott Frost:

Tom's a great recruiter but... I'm not sure his character doesn't hurt himself a little bit when he's recruiting. Everybody else comes into your house, talks to you on the phone and tells you they're going to make you into an All-American, they're going to make you into... you know, a first round draft pick. And you know, a lot of it... is a bunch of BS honestly, and a lot of it will never come true and the coaches probably know that, but they're willing to tell kids that to try and get them to come to their schools.

Coach Osborne's too honest for that. He'll come to your house, he'll tell you, "Well, we think if you come in you can be a pretty good player." And that's about the best compliment you can ever get from Coach Osborne. You know, he doesn't heap a lot of praise on you and if he... he tells you that you're a pretty good player, that you could be a pretty good player, that's about all you're going to get out of him, He doesn't come and tell you that he's going to change the world with you. But he does come and be honest with you and tell you what he thinks you can get done in his program.

It obviously didn't impress Frost since he went to Stanford. Did Frost say what the Stanford coaches told him that swayed him to go there initially?
Did you read the story though? He was young and naive. To each his own :restore2

Frost had visions of being a NFL QB. Walsh was the coach at Stanford. Nebraska ran the option. No chance of being a NFL QB coming from Nebraska as was proven by Frost and Crouch and Lord. Things have changed. But I think the same honesty is being put to the kids now as when Tom was here.
