Iowa - What Did We Learn

To be fair this is a stupid comparison. Comparing going from the Frost era to going from the Bo era is not fair. Rhule has underperformed but just using this metric is being obtuse. Riley started the slide. Frost worsened it.
Riley even got a bowl game at 5-7 thanks to the last Pelini team having great academics.

Butler needs to go. If we don't change some major assistants in the offseason, Nebraska will have a losing season next year.

This game summed it all up. Season was built on a house of cards. Akron and HCU got us bowling...That's it.

3 teams run the 3-3-5 as a base in the B1G. Wisky 4-7 and Purdue 2-9. Without a monster in the middle its a no go.

Feel bad for EJ. His back must be sore from carrying this team.

OL/DL/LB's are collectively the weakest link. Like they have regressed. Butler?

I don't think Rhule earned an extension. Costs to much to fire him. I'd give him the Solich speech. Fire your staff.....

What area have we improved in save ST's....Can Ekler coach ST and LB next year?

I'd truly look at solid FCS kids. Guys who were starters and winners. What we have been getting hasn't panned out.

Out coached and out classed today. Utter beat down.

Rhule is not the answer.

Offseason is a failure if any of the following happens:
1. Ek leaves
2. EJ transfers (I fully support him going pro) if he continues to play in college we must retain
3. DR leaves and we don't spend $$ on bringing in an established QB

I was today years old when I said I am done with HCMR. There is no way you can fire him now. Although the biggest CFB swerve ever, Lane Kiffin announces he is headed to Lincoln! 🤣 I can dream.

Yep, HCMR is officially on the hot seat with me. I know with many of you, it was a while ago. Like the FB staff, scouts players during the season for the portal. The AD should have a staff scouting on- and off-radar coaches.

Eh .... not sure that really tells the whole story.

Riley started out better when he could benefit from living off Pelini's recruits. He was +65, +34 then -128 in point differential. He was -124 in the B1G his last year.

Rhule hasn't been great by any means. But he's been -3, +53 and now +75. So he's 200 points better than Riley in Year 3. Although he is -48 in the B1G.
Sir, do you not remember the story line? Bo could not recruit and hated recruiting, so clearly Riley did not have any good players from Bo.

According to HOL, Ferentz breaks a tie with Bud Wilkinson for most consecutive games won in Lincoln by an opposing coach (7).

So, after not being able to watch Nebraska Penn St last week because of the NBC Fubo negotiations and realizing the blessing of not watching that game, I decided to forego the Iowa game and go hunting today. Honestly, I felt good. I think I'm probably done watching Nebraska football like I have in the past. I'll watch it here and there when I can, but it's not worth it anymore. Definitely not spending the money like I have in the past on the football team anymore. Especially with all the dang different subscriptions these days.

Suffering through 3 more years of Matt Rhule is going to be annoying.

We extended him for no reason, he was not a hot commodity, and we bid against ourselves for a coach who is a liability on Saturdays.

Everybody thought we'd lose today. We need to hit a total reset but can't because our AD extended a coach out of his depth in a puddle.

But Rhule has also had the benefit of the portal and NIL that Riley did not have. In this day and age a new HC should show substantially greater progress at a program which has the resources that Nebraska has.

Rhule is not, will never be, and never was a good coach. Hiring him was a big mistake which was made even worst by the extension. We deserve this because our ADs are clueless idiots. We will never be at the top of the BIG. Can’t remember the last time we had a winning record in conference play. I think it is about time we realize this is the new Husker football. Middle of the pack team that can’t beat a ranked opponent even if their lives depended on it. I never thought this will be our new legacy but we continue to do the same things and expecting different results. After the Frost extension, I thought we learned our lesson but lessons are for smart people, and unfortunately, we are way more nice than smart.
