A statement from Iowas coach at the presser in AZ the nite before the Insight bowl.

Q. Do you think Nebraska knows what it is getting into?

COACH FERENTZ: I don't think they have to worry about too much. They are a pretty good football team. You know, they are coming into a very competitive league, but they are leaving a very competitive league too. We have had a chance, as you might imagine, to watch a lot of tape over the past couple weeks. Awful lot of good football teams in the Big 12 as well.

I'm not big on ranking the BCS conferences, but we've had a chance to play SEC teams over the years and Big 12 exposure. We see them every year with Iowa State, we play them on an annual basis, as I mentioned earlier.

So both great conferences. Pac 10 the same way. We played Arizona this year and had a chance to watch a lot of their film the last two years we played them.

So I think if you look at all the BCS conferences, you can argue which one is the strongest. There are a lot of good teams out there. A lot of people playing really good football. My guess is Nebraska would fare pretty well no matter where they landed. They are a pretty good outfit.

Ferentz continued "Watched some tape on that MAC conference. Man they play some ball there. Don't get me started on the Sunbelt, they lace it up and just really, really, really go at cha'. While we are at it, that Kaw Valley HS league in Kansas - man what can I say, I am just speechless.

 
I would love to see the Big 12 lose every bowl game except ours and the Big Ten win all theirs. But won't happen since it never works that way for Nebraska.

The B10 has bowl alliances with SEC, Big XII and PAC 10 and no real gimmie games against the Big East, CUSA, etc. like some other conferences do, which affects conference records. For example, the SEC has bowl games with CUSA and has faced the likes of Hawaii, UTAH and several Big East teams in BCS games over the years which pads their bowl records.

The last 10 years Big 10 has gone 14-14 against the mighty SEC.

What mighty SEC? NU is 12-4 all time bowl record vs them. (Lost once to Ark but at the time they were part of the Kiss Texass Conference) Included is a smack down of then #2 Florida in the most lopsided bowl score ever.

 
its nice but at the same time what do you expect him to say? he's got some class so he's not going to just come out and say "No. They're screwed."
