Iron Man 3

Took my son's to it on Sunday. Liked it. Not as good as first one, but much better than second one IMO. Loved Ben Kingsleys charactor. Anyone else see it ? Any thoughts?

Same as you. Good, but not great. Much better than the 2nd.

As an aside, I'm tired of 3D. The technology isn't that good and it's just a gimmick to charge you a few extra bucks at the theater.

I thought it was great. It may have been my favorite of the 3.....I personally liked the more violent feel to it. It also got a bit more emotional in some scenes than the previous ones and I liked that actually. It drew you into the movie and the characters much more.

I never go see them in 3D unless they are actually shot in it it is not worth the time. Avatar was actually shop in 3D and it was really good in 3D. I didn't think it was anymore violent than any of the other Iron Mans. I liked it, some critic reviews really don't like it. But, the one real bad review I read was by a women and chicks usually don't dig comic book movies.

Yes, for the love all that is good and decent in this world, stop going to movies in 3D that are not shot in 3D. Post production 3D is total sh#t. Vote with your wallet and watch the 2D movies in 2D as they were meant to be seen.

I saw it Saturday night and it was alright but it was a disappointing movie that was WAY over hyped.

Here are my reasons why I didn't like the movie

- Ben Kingsley's character was pretty badass until they revealed he was a fake/fraud. Turns out he was nothing more than an alcoholic and druggie who was an actor. That whole scene where the Mandarin is describing to Tony Stark everything and how he's just an actor, that whole scene was dumb, ridiculous and way to goofy.

- At the end of the movie, Pepper dies (she doesn't really but Tony doesn't know that until a few scenes after that) and he doesn't fight pissed off but yet is still cracking stupid jokes as he's fighting Guy Pearce. Seriously you lose the love of your life and you don't show any emotion over it hahaha ok.

- Too many goofy dialogue trying to be funny. I only laughed twice during the whole movie and the other times it was like stop trying with these lame a$$ jokes

- Not enough Iron Man. Most of the movie dealt with Tony in Tennessee with a little boy following Tony's every move. Only time you got to see Iron Man was at the end of the movie.

- Tony Stark is stuck in Tennessee for most of the movie but at the end of the movie he does something with his hands and all of the other Iron Man suits from his destroyed mansion show up to the final battle. Ummm why didn't he do that when he was in stuck in Tennessee with a dead suit??? LOL

My responses:

- No real opinion on the Mandarin or Pepper

- I always appreciate the dialogue. Downey Jr's cultural references and name drops really go a long ways towards making different demographics get something personal out of it. I know my mom got a huge kick out of his WestWorld reference. Also, if you've seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (staring Downey Jr. and directed by the same guy that did Iron Man 3), you notice a lot of similarities in that director's personal touch.

- The whole point of the movie is to tell the story about how Tony Stark is Iron Man and not the other way around. Showing how his character as a person is what defines his role as a hero. It was a needed emphasis on the human element of his story.

I saw the Saturday matinee. I think it was a good, but not great. Ironman > Ironman 3 > Ironman 2.

- Ben Kingsley's character was awesome. I didn't mind that it was an actor, I think that was a cool twist. That being said, I think the movie would have been better if they kept The Mandarin as the villain. With the recent terrorism and US hatred, I thought it was really personal and struck a nerve with me. I thought the "bomb" was a brilliant move.

- Pepper having superhero powers (TWICE) was dumb.

- I actually enjoyed when Tony Stark was stuck in Tennessee. My favorite part about the movies is Tony's ingenuity. It was a fun bit.

- Going back to the first comment on the villians, I thought Killian's powers were a little much. I could get down with the healing powers to some extent, but I think they stretched it too much with the "heating" power and super-strength. Just a little much for me. I was much more emotionally involved with The Mandarin than Killian's character.

I guess this is the interesting part about movies. Different people see different things from movies and have different likes and dislikes. One of my favorite stupid movies is Highlander. As the French guy in Talladaga Nights says "It is Sh!t". But, you know what I really like it for some reason. I liked Tony's interaction with the little kid. i liked how he made light of some of the heavier problems in the kids life.

I went to see it Saturday night with a group of friends. I thought it was really good, but like someone earlier said, it's a little ridiculous that he waited till he was in a desperate situation at the very end to bring out the army of iron men. But that's getting pretty nit-picky. I also wasn't a huge fan of the super heating powers of the Mandarin guys. But overall, it was pretty awesome to watch.
