Is anyone else tired of the.....

Yeah, it happens every off season. But this year the conference realignment talk seems particularly bad.

I think it is funny that every other discussion brings up CU. Right now Colorado is the turd in the Big 12 punchbowl. Everybody talks about CU. But nobody actually wants to dip them out or have anything to do with them. Because their program is a floating piece of crap right now.
Sorry Baylor, you don't even have that title anymore.

I could definitely see the leaders of the Little 11 and the Big XII having a secret meeting in the Eagle's Nest, and trying to come up with a "super conference" taking the best schools from each respective group.

that would be interesting. but it is not about how good the team is, more importantly, it is about money and market share. UT is the biggest school in one of the most populated states. mizzou is in a huge market, so the big ten is interested in them even though they are not a perennial powerhouse, nor have they ever really been that good except for one year, kinda.

It wouldn't suprise me, because they wouldn't be looking at it from the competition aspect, but from what revenue they could generate.

The superconference talk (as you put it - taking the best schools) is based off of a number of things not just football. Like others have stated, it is all about money and that money comes from TV. The three best TV regions in the big 12 are Texas, Missouri, and Colorado (in that order if I remember correctly). Nebraska doesn't even come close to a decent TV market.

You also have to look at other sports. For instance, Nebraska brings absolutely nothing to the table in terms of men's basketball. A KU or MU would be more attractive b'c they have up and coming football programs to go with good bball programs. Nebraska does succeed very well in women's sports though - they just don't bring in the money like men's sports do.

Lastly, we should address recruiting. The state of Nebraska produces, on average, 1 big time recruit each year (4 :star /5 :star ). TX, OK, MO, KS, CO, are all better recruiting states.

Nebraska is only attractive to other conferences b/c of football tradition.

I guess I'd rather here talk on something real.
agreed. all his talk about making a 64 member super-conference is about as realistic as his dream of riding his pet unicorn across a rainbow to candy land.

it's a pretty dream, but it just ain't never gonna happen happen.
