Football: ISU standout recruit's future becomes uncertain
By ANDREW LOGUE • REGISTER STAFF WRITER • February 15, 2008
The football future of Sedrick Johnson, who signed with Iowa State, is in limbo, pending a decision by NCAA officials.
Johnson, a four-star receiver from Arp, Texas, sent a letter of intent to Iowa State on national signing day Feb. 6. But he then sent another letter to Texas A&M on Thursday.

According to Johnson’s high school coach, the difference in the letters is that his father, Sedrick Sr., signed the first, and his mother, Della, signed the second.
“It’s before the NCAA right now,” coach Dale Irwin told the Des Moines Register in a telephone interview. “I’ve been instructed not to say a word.”
When the Des Moines Register asked to speak with Johnson, Irwin said the family is not taking calls.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Johnson was perhaps the Cyclones’ most touted recruit. He also drew interest from Florida, Louisiana State and Nebraska, among others.
