Pinkle Time
Walk-on
Well, once you start getting notes from the mods, you know the setting sun is on the proverbial horizon. As such, it's time to bid you Cornhusker fans adieu!
Quite frankly, I was a little surprised how seriously some of you took these Pinkle Time posts. I assumed that anyone with the proper number of chormosomes and public school education would see them as the farce that they were. None the less, it was amusing to watch some of the threads multiply. It was certainly a diversion from the tedium of the typical workday.
Quick note to some of you: Trying to use logic with someone who types in all caps is akin to tyring to knock down a skyscraper with a Q-Tip. All-cap typers are often the same people who send manifestos to the New York Times. Logic typically can't permeate their wall of delusion.
Also...someone in one of these ramblings indicated that MU had a "one game a year" fan base. I'd argue that if you look at the attendance records during really, really down years, there were often 40,000 at Faurot. Certainly not up to NU standards, but few programs will draw when there's no hope. Should MU make the next step (and that possibility is still in question) Faurot could rediscover the magic it once had on Satudays. I'd suggest it's still pretty awesome regardless...but I'm biased.
No question it pales in comparison to the two trips I've made to Lincoln...where the fans were quite nice.
Anyways...the game should be interesting. Neither team has shown the ability to stop mediocre (or in Mizzou's case I-AA) defenses on a consistent basis. As cliche as it sounds, it'll probably come down to which quarterback gives up fewer picks. This is a defining moment for Gary Pinkel and the program. A loss here and his dog may need to go into hiding.
Here's to an entertaining game...Go Tigers!
