ITT: We force our musical tastes on others

Used to have a thread like this on an old board I ran. Basically, the concept is pretty much the same as "What are you currently listening to?".

What you do is post a band that you really enjoy listening to, post why you like them, and then include three links to different songs. The catch of the thread is that the next person is not allowed to post a band of their own (we're working on the honor system here people!) until they provide legitimate feedback on the band posted before them. If you feel so inclined, you can even listen to bands of posts further up! So I will go first.

I like a very diverse collection of music, but one of my all time favorite bands (a very large reason is their live show) is Family Force 5. These guys combine nearly every kind of "rock"-based style of music you can think of (even a small country influence, being from the south), along with electronica, club music and hip-hop, and they throw in a huge dose of crazy, pure energy. The lead singer wears hulk hands that are spraypainted and decked out in mirror pieces, with one of them being hollowed out to allow for a microphone (just an example of the wild attitude of this band). Hopefully the poster after me isn't too old, these guys are definitely not for everyone. Oh yeah, they are also a Christian band.

Even at 49, I could probably see myself taking my soon to be 9 yr old Son to see these guys. (FF5)

Better than most of what you see today, but they're no Alice in Chains (My current fav.).

I probably wouldn't bother buying any of their music, though.

I guess I'll counter with something older than me..maybe?

I was in Pickles Records and Tapes (Lincoln) in the mid '80's ? at the old McDonalds location on 13th? & "O" and this cute Blonde that worked there asked if I'd ever heard of this dude (I hadn't) and I asked her if they had it in vinyl..(They didn't), and the Blonde told me it was only available in cassette..The only Blues I had in my collection at the time was the movie soundtrack to the Blues Brothers.

I loved this one so much (every song!) that I named my next Siberian Husky "Willie" and years later bought it on Vinyl..then later, bought the master recording on CD.

Never bought any album on three formats before (or since) and have been collecting his music ever since.

Almost every song on this album (written by Willie) was made fameous by someone else (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Doors, Cream, Steve Miller Band, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Etta James...)Plus he was the session Bass player for Chess Records and was responsible for producing many artists at Chess.
