Pelini said on 1110 KFAB after the press conference that he would like the Nebraska job to be his last. Which means, obviously, he wants to be here for a long time.
Seems to me someone else said the same thing... who was that... hmmm..... oh yeah it was Callahan!
But, I think Callahan said alot of things that he thought we wanted to hear. Pelini has a track record of saying exactly what he means.
Now, I know there is a lot of "bogasming" going on. And I'll admit I'm mid-gasm at the moment. But, if he's half as successful as I think he's going to be, I wouldn't mind having him around here for years and years to come. And really there's 3 things that need to happen for him to be successful:
1) Restore the blackshirts to their traditional dominance
2) Continue to progress offensively
3) Establish great leadership and motivate players exceptionally well
#1 is almost a guarantee. #2 should be easy enough, as he has said he has no interest in gutting the offense. He wants to build off what we have in place.. change a few things up, but generally keep the same system.
#3 is the biggest question. but, wherever he has gone his players have loved him. I'm sorta getting tired of hearing it but his players will "walk through brick walls" for him. He also seems to have great values, and will put character before success. So, I think he will accomplish #3 with flying colors.
If those three things are met he should have the program back in great shape. Obviously, there are other factors such as walk-on program, in-state recruiting, etc.. but it's pretty obvious that those will be accomplished.
SIDE NOTE: Wonder if Bo has heard the term "bogasm", and if not.. he needs to be made aware, I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it.
