Nagurski Preseason Watch List

Yeah, we're part of the problem ... http://twitter.com/ColFootballNews

DALLAS (FWAA) The 2010 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List features the best and brightest of the upcoming season's defensive players. One of the more than 70 players on the list most likely will receive the Bronko Nagurski Trophy that is awarded annually to the nation's best defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.

Players may be added or deleted to the Bronko Nagurski Watch List during the season. Each week during the 2010 season, the FWAA will choose a Defensive Player of the Week. If that player is not on the Watch List, he automatically will be added. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy on November 18.

The annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet will be on Dec. 6 at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. Besides the 2010 winner being announced, the banquet will also celebrate the winner of the Bronko Nagurski Legends Award, presented by CSX Intermodal. Defensive tackle Mike McCoy, a standout for Notre Dame, is being honored from the FWAA's 1969 All-America team.

What I don't understand about lists like this is how a non-starter that didn't see much playing time makes this list. Take the C from Florida, I don't know anything about him but he wasn't a starter last year. The guy that played that position was selected in the first round. I don't think he had much playing time playing behind Maurkice Pouncey, but he is on the list. I don't get it??? Did he look good in his pregame warm-ups?????

In addition, center Maurkice Pouncey (Lakeland, Fla.) was the first center selected in the draft, taken by the Steelers with the 18th selection of the draft. He is the first UF center ever taken in the first round, and with his selection every offensive and defensive position has now seen a Gator selected in the first two rounds of an NFL Draft.

That's because he plays for Florida and Urban Meyer. The Texas equivalent in the SEC

Imagine... 2 Outland winners in a row. Or 2 Outland and Nagurski winners in a row. That would be a big step in the direction of being "back"

:bonez :bonez :bonez
