Yes I can understand it’s a sensitive subject due to his health but probably a good move for both parties in the long run. Our ST and OLB units have not been where they should’ve been.

Dawson has coached OLB and ST before, and it's possible that the new d-line coach who replaced Dawson goes to OLB if Dawson wants to go back to d-line.
It's also possible that Dawson be a full-time ST coordinator so place a stronger emphasis on the unit.

Agree, but AFAICT it's a lot more due to a lack of decent players (and recruiting misses) than coaching. I mean, Shaquem Griffin seemed to do pretty OK under DeWitt's coaching...

I think a lot of it has to do with the Giants coach being fired, but maybe he wants to stay in the NFL. I wouldn't hate it, still sort of keeps some continuity with the staff.
