Kearney sex offender charged with sexually assaulting child

KEARNEY — A Kearney man who’s registered as a sex offender has been charged with sexually assaulting another child.

If convicted, Ricky G. Journey faces up to 50 years in prison because he could be considered a habitual criminal. The felony charge typically carries a five-year sentence.

Court records indicate the 54-year-old Journey was convicted of felony sexual assault of a child in Buffalo County and second-degree sexual assault of a child in Denver. He’s listed on the Nebraska State Patrol’s sex offender registry as Level III, or at the highest risk to re-offend.The latest charge in Buffalo County District Court stems from an alleged assault of a person age 14 or younger in Kearney in April.

Journey is being held at the Buffalo County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bond.

How do they ever get a second chance after the first offence.

no excuse, it should be taken care of the first time, there shouldn't be any "re-offenses." Cut their balls off after the first one. When you hear about these f'ing scum getting released or parole/probabtion it just....*blood boils*
