Keith Jackson to retire

I hate to see this happen. He was the voice of college football for so long - most of my memories of the great moments of college football involve his calling of the game.

 
I thought he retired a few years ago, then decided to just to Pac 10 games.

He announced his intentions to retire, and ABC convinced him to remain by letting him stick to Pac-10 games so he didn't have to travel much.

 
Not nearly as traumatic for me as when Lyle quit broadcasting the KFAB games. But KJ almost always did the NU/OU Thanksgiving Day game in the day.

Did you know that Keith has always claimed he has never in his career actually use the phase "Whoa Nellie!"?

Roy Firestone was said to have coined the phase while imatating him.
