KSU Finds Their Coach?

BigWillie

All-Conference
Rumor swirling that KSU may have found their replacement. Ron Prince, the OC and former OL coach for UVA may be their man. KSU has sent out a plane to Charlottesville as of right now to pick up Prince. News here in VA is that the plane has been here since this evening, but hasn't even taken back off yet. Kinda weird.

In any case, Prince is just 36 years old and would join the coaching fraternity as one of the few African-American CFB head coaches.

Their is a link at ESPN about this as well.

The move is permanent. Ron was interviewed this past weekend by KSU and now they are just waiting on him to do a formal interview with the President. This was not KSU's choice, but rather Snyder's choice. He could be named as early as Friday or they might hold off untill Monday from what some sources (depending on where you read it) are reporting

I'm not too sure about this. I just heard Weiser today on a KC sports radio show and, unless he is just brilliant at hiding the facts, he had nothing really to say about any candidates. I could tell in the interview he wasn't going to name any names, but what I got out of it was that they weren't anywhere close to naming anybody. They even asked the question, "Would you have somebody by next Monday?" and he basically said no. I really question who the sources are here, because it sounds a little fishy with the plane and all. Also, not sure if this guy is qualified enough..........

Isn't qualified? I hope you are not referring to the offense that beat Florida St this year. His offense is what has gotton Virginia to a bowl game 4 of the last 5 years

2001: 5-7

2002: 9-5

2003: 8-5

2004: 8-4

2005: 6-5

I would say that's a pretty good record for a division that now includes Miami, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech and a conference that includes FLorida St, Boston College, and Clemson. The ACC is tougher then the Big12 and he would do good in a weak North Division at the moment.

I don't get why coaches can't use a commericial plane like everyone else.

OMG TEHY SENT A PLANE!!!!1111

I just find it funny...

In this case the red carpet treatment is the only way to do it.

Ron "the purple rain" Prince has been hired as KSU's head coach. Ironic that the purple kitties would hire a guy with the name Prince :clap

But then again, thier logo depending on where you see it posted looks blue at time

Is this final? I didn't see anything on KSU website about it.

NH, I wouldn't call that offense for all those years, Prince's.

You have to remember that Bill Musgrave coached their squad in some of its most successful seasons and turned Matt Schaub into a world beater and ACC OPOY.

This is only Prince's 3rd year as OC.

Yes it's FINAL. He will be announced monday afternoon after their players meeting which takes place at around 2:45

Yeah, i am aware that he was promoted to OC in in 2003. But he was a co-offensive coordinator/OL coach in 2001 and 2002, so he gets some credit for that too

Nameless you are the man I love your posts but the ACC is not better than the Big 12. Just my thought. The reason I say this Texas would beat Va tech and FSU and CU would be a toss up.

I guess it's just a matter of debate. The old ACC wasn't as strong as the Big12, but with Boston College, Miami, Vtech all joining it, it definetly has taken over as the second strongest conference (behind the SEC, just not this year since the SEC was down kinda).

The ACC has 2 division, like the Big12.

Coastal Division:

Vtech (bowl eligible)

Miami (bowl eligible)

Georgia Tech (bowl eligible)

Virginia (bowl eligible)

North Carolina

Duke

Atlantic division:

Boston College (bowl eligible)

Florida St (bowl eligible)

Clemson (bowl eligible)

N.C State (bowl eligible)

Maryland

Wake Forest

Both conferences have 8 bowl eligible teams. The ACC on the other hand has 2 teams ranked in the top 10 that would beat every single team in the Big12 with the exception of Texas (although Vtech would come close to beating them). When you have 2 teams that could beat 11 of your 12 teams in the conference, that says something

Nope, Prince was never co-offensive coordinator. It was all Bill Musgrave at the time.
