KU vs Baylor

Coach Morality Police seems to be working out well there. I respect his contribution to NU football history, but man I hope they don't try to shoehorn him into this staff when he gets run out of KU.

I think people are underestimating Gill and overestimating Kansas. He walked into a nuclear holocaust of a program who scraped together five wins with Reesing still at QB. Give him three years and see if they're still losing to Baylor.

We are bad, but we should not have been beaten that bad today. We are just really inconsistent. I am not gonna jump all over the staff, all though the whole lot of them are really embarrassing us. I am a true Hawks fan, and am just going to have to hope they get better. I think we have some good talent, but a lot of it is young and makes a fair number of mistakes. We are all over the place though, so I have not written Thursday night off or the team off. I am just going to be patiend and see what they can do to improve. It is a hard a$$ whuppin to take, though. We got beat really bad today.

I believe that was one of, if not, the worst losses in Kansas football history. The Jayhawks gave up 680 total yards and a school-record 444 total yards to Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin.

It would seem the kids are not buying into his policies. I wonder how much of today's modern media is affecting this. Everyone is criticizing and making fun of the old fashioned policies being set...if Nebraska players can buy into the hype and lay an egg at home against south dakota then these KU kids can surely be affected by all of the negative energy directed at Gill. In Buffalo Gill was protected as their golden child. He never should've taken a job like this. It's kind of similar to Solich taking over for Osborne (very very loose comparison here). Mangino had KU fans used to winning for a few years there. People were questioning the hire of Gill right away. Buffalo was thrilled to have a coach that was on the staff that won 3 NTs.

You know, in the end, if he wins people will like him. If he can't, then his policies are a "distraction". I would say most KU fans want to like the guy, or do like him outright. A lot of people do not like how Mangino was gotten rid of, but no one blames Gill for that. Whenever KU has had nice guy coaches, they have failed. If he comes in and in the end was all policies and no wins, that will be hard to take. If he can produce decent teams, that will be fine. The players seem to like the new staff, but if they keep getting whipped, they won't like much of anything. THe Georgia Tech game is our one real saving grace, something that we did to show that the team is capable of doing something, but is young and inconsistent. We need to be in games though, Baylor has improved and is a better team than us right now, but they should not beat us that badly...

You gotta basically write this year off. New coach, new scheme, lost the playmakers. Each time there's a coaching change at any school, there's going to be a group of the kids that don't buy in.

It's baffling, but you have to think that Gill's work in Buffalo shows he can get the job done. Next year will be a better indicator - and Year 3 should tell the tale. You just have to gut it out this year.

Next year will be even harder for Kansas with the start of the round robin schedule in the Big 12. They won't be able to count on winning the North division. They'll have to face the gauntlet which is the South division.
