Kurt Warner to announce retirement

Sad to see him go. Guy was clutch in the playoffs.

Sorry in advance... but this cracked me up (and I'm a big fan of Kurt, having lived in St. Louis when the Rams first got there from LA, and seeing the totally improbable story of a grocery clerk winning the Superbowl.)

The guy pretty much brought Arizona into the limelight these past couple years. Good luck to him in retirement!

so i guess ill be the first one to ask the question here....does he belong in the HOF?

I will go out on a limb and say YES he belongs in the HOF. I typically do not agree with much of what Collin Cowherd says, and rarely even listen to his show, but I do agree with him on Warner.
St. Louis was not very good before he was there. He (along with good RB and WR) took this team from nobody to a Super Bowl and led the "greatest show on turf"....Once he left, well....look at the Rams
He showed up in Arizona, and they weren't very good. Once again, he took nobody and turned them into Super Bowl team. (along with 2 great WR)..... I will bet that when he is gone, they will NOT be as good, even with the WR.
He has HOF numbers and the fact that he shows up in big games speaks volumes. He should be in the HOF, and maybe a first ballot HOF.
I am not biased, I don't like the Rams or Cardinals........in fact, my STEELERS have beaten both during their run to 6 titles :laughpound

Did you notice the sleeves on his shirt? I don't know what God looks like, but i guarantee He wouldn't wear that shirt.
I guess I really don't know if he belongs in the HOF. That's like asking if Brett Favre will be in the HOF. There are pros and cons to each.
Does his body of work match those of Payton Manning and Tom Brady, or for that matter Ben Roethlisberger, all of whom will probably be future HOFers?

Is the bolded part a joke? I'm not a huge Favre supporter but there is no chance he doesn't go in on the first ballot. He has broken most of Marino's numbers and he has a Ring, Marino got in first ballot I believe.
Actually no it's not a joke. There are some who will argue his tendencies to do too much has cost his team championships. Marino was younger and had fewer seasons when he set those records. The new gold standards are Manning and Brady, and having a Superbowl ring is not an automatic inclusion in the HOF anymore.
My personal feeling is he will be voted in the HOF, but I believe the vote will be closer than some people think.

I always liked Kurt Warner but his wife drove me nuts. Especially that incident back in 2000 (around that time) where she got on the radio and was practically crying telling the press to leave her husband alone. I thought that was pretty weak and a tad bit strange.

I'm not a big Farve guy, but as 3 time MVP, Superbowl champ, multiple pro-bowler and record setter, I don't think it will be close at all. Not even a little bit. As for Warner, I'm not sure. He's a classy guy that did some really good things (Superbowl champ, league MVP, etc.) plus took two different teams to the superbowl.

I have been paying attention to the Colts for the past 6 or 7 years along with the Rams and this season the Rams pissed me off alot, but I still pay attention to them. I hope he enjoys his retirement and I would've loved to see him win one more. What he did in St. Louis was outstanding and the greatest show on turf put up HUGE numbers. I think he deserves consideration for the HOF considering what he did, where he came from, and what he overcame in his career. I started watching the Rams in 1998 when Warner first went there and became a fan of theirs because of him. I still have an authentic Rams jersey of Kurt Warner's hanging in my closet that I will always cherish. Thought he was a great QB and St. Louis made a huge mistake when they let him leave. That's when St. Louis and I began to have disagreements.

I don't think Kurt Warner gets a lot of respect and what he had to go thru to get to where he is at now. He proved people wrong and lead a St. Louis Rams team (Who wasn't good before him)to the Super Bowl twice winning one and taking a Arizona team that has been a laughing stock for decades to the Super Bowl. I for one would vote for Warner into the HOF if I could and I would go out and buy a Warner jersey right now. I respect what Warner has gone thru and what he as accomplished as a player and a person. I don't find him cocky one bit and seems like a down to earth type of guy. I wish him luck during his retirement and I'll miss watching him play because it was really enjoyable watching him run that offense with Arizona.
