Langsdorf on the OLine

With that in mind, I asked Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf last week what makes him optimistic about the Huskers' retooled offensive line. He immediately praised the group's athleticism and toughness.

"I think you can win with guys like that," he said. "If you can have tough guys who are athletic, you have a chance to be pretty good because they'll just continue to get better at technique. And you just need a bunch of tough guys up front who play well together.
"That group has come together nicely for us this offseason. And that group has to be cohesive because it's so important playing together and making all the calls and being on the same page."
Langsdorf acknowledges lack of depth at the tackle positions is an ongoing concern.
"We'll have a better idea once we get to fall camp (during the first week of August) on some of the new guys — we'll see if they can handle it," he said. "There's a process with those freshmen learning and playing physically enough to compete in the Big Ten. We'll find that out pretty soon into fall camp."

We'll definitely have concerns if either of the starting tackles gets hurt.

But other than that, I like this group. Knevel is still a bit of a question mark but Gates is a stud. Foster was drawing rave reviews all last spring and fall from the reporters so I'm glad he's getting a shot finally. I've long been a Farmer fan and I think he, Foster and Gates will be a really good trio for the next three years.

I thought the OL was solid but not spectacular last year but I think they will take a step forward this year.
