Later Bar Times in Nebraska

I'm sure most of you have already heard about this. Just wanted to see what the Huskerboarders thought. Personally, I don't see a problem with it. If anything, it just means the people who like to stay out and drink won't have to go to the bar till later which only helps that "after work / dinner" crowd who only want to have a few evening drinks. Plus it will keep people from driving across the border for "one more" whether that be Council Bluffs or Torrington for us out here in the Panhandle.

i dont see a problem with it either...i lived in Arizona, one of the toughest DUI states, for four years, and they passed a similar law extending the hours. if youre a drunken idiot, youre a drunken idiot. it doesnt matter what time it is. i worked at a large club in tucson as security part time, and the later hours actually lowered the amount of problems we had. im sure someone smarter than me knows all the reasons why, i just know it was pretty apparent.

In my observation of living in many a different state, I think the problem with the early times is that everyone staying at the bars until closing and then all leaving at the same time. This leads to a crowded side walk full of drunks and lots of fights. One hour might not make too much of a difference, but anything can help. This might also cut into the house party culture. Instead everyone planning to go out and then go to house party, it might be an either or proposition, but again only one hour will only make so much difference.

The real question is why there are rules on it in the first place. Stupid Prohibition hangovers. Those Temperance(or "project extra mile" as they call themselves around here) morons need to find something real to worry about.
