Legate has looks of an old-time Husker fullback
LINCOLN — Tyler Legate came off the practice field Monday looking very much like an old-time Nebraska fullback.

With tape wrapped around his wrists, a little blood on his right shoulder of his jersey and his 5-foot-10, 235-pound frame, Legate couldn’t have looked more like a fullback.

And every day, Legate knows he’s that much closer to the end of his final fall camp.

“Every day right now I get up during fall camp and say, ‘This is the last one. This is the last Aug. 15 day I’ll ever be Husker,” Legate said.

Some players may look forward to getting fall camp over with. After all, it’s just practice and you’re just beating up on your teammates.

Not Legate. He insists he’s going to miss fall camp too when he’s done.

“I cherish every day I get to come out here and run around,” Legate said. “It’s a mental deal. You just have to get up every morning and when you strap it on, it’s time to go. I can’t believe I’m a senior already.”

Those are there attitudes that I love to hear about. If all you want is the glory and not the pain with it, then your heart isn't truly 100% there.

Even though his highschool was my highschool's rival.... I like this kid. I wish him the best and hope he gets to carry the ball ALOT this season! good luck Tyler

I don't understand why you'd have a position we use as consistently as FB and never give the guy the ball. Even if it's only a touch or two a game, it's still something opposing defenses are going to have ratting around in their heads every time he's out there.
